Best Thrilling Simulation Racing Games – rFactor 2 Daytona

rFactor 2 is an auto racing simulator developed by Image Space Incorporated, which also developed the original rFactor and rFactor Pro. People who have played the older versions will find themselves at home with this one; it’s the same game with a fresh coat of paint and a few changes like night racing.

What is it? Simply put, it’s a simulation racing game. It feels surprisingly realistic – from how your car handles on track to debates over tire wear – and there are plenty of modes to try out: career mode, multiplayer online, single-player offline against AIs, online practice, etc.

You have everything you’d expect from a good racing game. You can unlock new cars, upgrades etc., by winning races.

The graphics are decent, excellent in fact for the price and features. The graphics settings allow you to make it look as simple or as detailed as you want it to be; there are presets for different types of hardware, or if you prefer to fiddle around with the settings yourself, you can do that too. You’ll need a decent computer (preferably with a dedicated graphics card) and at least 4GB of RAM if you want to play at high settings and/or resolutions. Lower settings will work on older PCs, but you won’t get the same experience.

The sounds are pretty true to life; the engine sounds are good, and the tires screeching, in turn, is quite realistic. The physics and handling of the cars for all classes feels believable, so it’s easy to get hooked! I’ve been playing this game for years, and I still lose my concentration at times because of how realistic it feels.

As with many open-source projects, there are a lot of mods available for this game, some excellent quality that makes your experience more fun or realistic. Most of them have been made by professional modders, so if you’re looking for a realistic racing game, this is the one for you.

The game is available on Microsoft Store and Steam (look under “rFactor 2”) and can be downloaded for free. There are optional paid packs you can buy, but to get the basic experience, it’s completely free.

For the price and features, rFactor 2 is a great racing game with lots of potential. If you love simulation racing and feel like spending hours behind the wheel, I recommend you give it a shot!
